Connect Claude or Codex

Connect your own AI agent to Baseloop and build tables, add columns, run them and read the results without leaving it. Claude Code and Codex connect with one install command. Claude in the browser (claude.ai) connects with a connector instead.

What you need

  • A Baseloop account.

  • Claude Code (in the terminal or the Claude desktop app) or the Codex desktop app, installed on your computer. For claude.ai, see Claude in the browser below.

Connect Claude Code or Codex

  1. On Home, click Or bring your own agent under the chat box. You can also go to Settings → Integrations and open Claude Code and Codex.

Or bring your own agent under the chat box on Home
  2. Click the app you use: Claude Code (Terminal), Claude Code (Desktop app) or Codex. It opens with the install request already typed. Read it, then send it.

The three agent apps on the Claude Code and Codex page

If the button does not open your app, copy the command under Or paste in your terminal and run it yourself. Pick Windows to get the PowerShell version.

The install command with the operating system switch
  3. Sign in when your browser opens, and approve the sign-in. If the agent asks whether you already have a Baseloop account, answer it: saying you are new opens sign-up instead.

  4. Choose whether your agent may run Baseloop commands without asking you each time. Yes means fewer pop-ups; No means you approve each one.

  5. Type /baseloop in your agent, then say what you want, for example "Show me all my Baseloop tables".

Claude in the browser

claude.ai cannot run the install command, so it connects with a connector. Open the Claude Code and Codex page, click Using claude.ai in the browser, or prefer MCP? and follow the steps for your Account type. In short:

  1. Enable network access in claude.ai's capability settings: turn on Code execution and file creation and Allow network egress, set the domain allowlist to Package managers only, and add api-v2.baseloop.io.

  2. Add the connector: name baseloop, URL https://api-v2.baseloop.io/v1/mcp. Click Connect, then Allow in the tab that opens.

The connector's name and URL, ready to copy
  3. Set tool permissions on the baseloop connector: Always allow for everything, except Needs approval for tools whose names start with delete_ or run_. Those delete data or spend credits.

On a Team account, an admin does the first two steps once, in claude.ai's admin settings. That makes the connector available to everyone but connects no one: each member then finds baseloop in their own connector settings, clicks Connect and sets their tool permissions.

Common questions

Does it use my credits?

Yes. What you run from Claude or Codex uses your organization's credits, the same as running it in Baseloop, and counts toward your monthly credit limit if an admin set one.

My agent asks before every Baseloop command.

If you chose No during the install, ask your agent to run baseloop setup agent-permissions. It lets Claude Code and Codex run Baseloop commands without asking.

I'm signing in on a server or another computer.

Ask your agent to sign in with baseloop auth login --device. It shows a code and a link: open the link in any browser, check that the code matches the one in your terminal, and click Approve sign-in.

I belong to more than one organization.

Tell your agent which organization to work in. Each command runs in one organization.
