Find a work email from a personal email

People who sign up with a Gmail, Outlook or iCloud address can't be reached at work through it. Look up the person behind each address, then find their work email. At the end, every row you could match has the person's name, their company and a work email.

Before you start

A table with the personal email addresses in one column. If an address is already a work address, you don't need this guide: you have what you need.

Find the person behind each address

  1. Click Actions at the top right of the table, search for "reverse email" and click Reverse email lookup.

The Actions panel with Reverse email lookup highlighted
  2. Under Email, pick the column with the addresses. A column named Email is picked for you.

  3. Click Save & run 10 rows. When the first results look right, run the rest from the column's run button.

The new Contact column shows the person's name for each address it matched, and Not found for the rest.

Put the details in their own columns

Find work email needs the first name, last name and company domain in columns of their own. They are all in the lookup's result:

  1. Right-click a name and choose Open full value.

  2. Hover First name and click Add column, then Add column again to confirm. The column fills in for every row the lookup matched.

  3. The panel closes. Open it again and do the same for Last name, Company domain and LinkedIn URL.

More on this in "Add a value from a result as its own column".

Find the work email

  1. Click Add column at the end of the column headers and choose Find work email.

  2. Check the inputs: the First name, Last name and LinkedIn URL columns go in the inputs of the same name, and Company domain goes under Domain. Company name can stay empty.

  3. Add a run condition, First name is not empty, so rows the lookup couldn't match are skipped (see "Run a column only on some rows").

  4. Click Save & run 10 rows, then run the rest from the column's run button.

How you'll know it worked

The Work email column fills in for the people the lookup found. Rows it couldn't match show Run condition not met and cost nothing.

What it costs

  • Reverse email lookup: 3 credits for each person it finds. Not found and failed cells are free.

  • Find work email: credits only when the email is verified as deliverable. See "Find work emails and phone numbers".

If something goes wrong

The column mixes personal and work addresses. Add a run condition to the lookup so it runs only on personal ones: Email contains gmail, then or Email contains outlook, and so on for the providers in your list.

Most rows say Not found. The lookup matches addresses linked to a professional profile. Old or rarely used addresses often have none. They cost nothing.

Find work email says Not found for someone the lookup found. The lookup returns the person's current company from their profile; if that is out of date, their work email can't be found there. Check the LinkedIn URL to see where they work now.
