Run columns automatically

A column can run without you clicking Run: when new rows arrive, when a value it reads changes, or on a schedule.

Run on new rows

  1. Click Table settings, the gear at the right of the table's header.

  2. Under Automations, turn on Auto-run on new rows.

Every action and AI column then runs on each row that arrives from the table's source, a webhook or another table.

To leave one column out, click its header and turn off Auto-run new rows.

Note: hidden columns still auto-run. The Columns menu in the header warns you when one does.

Run again when a value changes

Also under Automations, Auto-update dependents runs every column that reads a cell again, for that row, whenever the cell changes. It keeps a chain of columns up to date, but it uses credits on every change, including your own edits, and can run columns that write to your CRM or outreach tool. Leave it off unless you need it.

Run on a schedule

  1. Click the column's header and choose Edit column.

  2. Under Run settings, turn on Run on schedule.

  3. Choose Daily, Weekly, Monthly or Custom, then the day, the time and the start date. Next runs shows when it will run.

  4. Click Save.

Each scheduled run runs the column on every row its run conditions allow, not only new rows, so it uses credits on those rows every time. Add a run condition to keep it to the rows that need a fresh answer. On an import column the same setting fetches new records on a schedule.

How you'll know it worked

The table's footer shows what runs by itself, such as Runs on new rows or Scheduled run. Every schedule also appears under Schedules in the sidebar, with its next run. Pause or resume one with its switch, or click it to change how it runs.

The top of the page shows how many schedules are on, out of how many your plan allows.

If something goes wrong

My column didn't run on new rows. Check that Auto-run on new rows is on in Table settings, that it isn't turned off in the column's menu, and that the new rows match the column's run condition.

Credits are used every time I edit a cell. Auto-update dependents is on. Turn it off in Table settings.

A schedule is under "Needs attention". Its last run failed, was skipped or was missed. Open it to see why; if an account was disconnected, click Reconnect.

I can't turn on a schedule. Your organization may be using all the schedules its plan allows, or the plan may not include schedules. Pause one you no longer need, or upgrade.
